In my opinion, this is an excellent camcorder for a novice or someone who simply wants a camcorder easy to use and small and compact. Personally, I do not need more than 2 hours of recording time, and it's wonderful not having to buy tapes.
The price is actually less than many digital cameras. I wanted to have a camcorder for a long period, and the Flip Ultra has finally met my standards for quality, value and ease of use.

Easy and Fun
Bought the Flip to take on vacation to South Africa. Have been using it to “practice” my skills, but no real skill needed. It is very easy to learn and use.

This camcorder came with batteries. After several attempts to start it, popped in new batteries, and it finally started.
Firstly, this camcorder can not replace your video camera. It has its limits in terms of image quality and zoom in low light.
I love this camcorder. I give it 5 stars because it is "easy" to a whole new level
You do not have to worry about any flash memory card (the size, capacity, ridiculous high price) or tape or CD. It stores video and sound in its internal memory.
You do not have to worry about carrying a USB cord, because it has a USB arm that comes out.
You do not have to worry about carrying a software CD. The software is integrated into the camcorder and load when you connect to your computer.
You do not have to worry about recharging the batteries, because it operates on 2 easily available AA batteries (but you can buy a rechargeable battery for a price of Flip shop).
You do not have to worry about carrying a bag with a video camera. This camcorder fits easily in a purse or pants pocket.
You do not have to worry about your camera taking her own sweet time to boot. This starts at a glance and you're ready to go.
You're ready to capture and playback at will, easily. . .
Construction:
The body is made of plastic material. It seems and feels quite light when you hold. Battery cover is located just below the lens and delicate feeling. USB attached to the arm, I believe, is not a good design. Even if it is light, I provide support for the camera when it is attached to the USB port on my laptop. So if you have to connect to a desktop computer, it may hang awkwardly from the USB port (I left hanging from the USB port on my laptop for about 5 minutes, it does not look, he been in danger of breaking). . . . . You can buy a USB connector of the Flip-store, of course, a price. The screen is very clear to see what is caught or to view your video played.
Operation:
It is extremely easy to use and has very few buttons. You start recording and playing videos right out of the box. Nothing to load, rewind, fast forward. If at all you need to go through the instruction manual, you can cover in 15 minutes.
Image Quality:
Under bright conditions and out of the picture quality is excellent. The image is sharp and colors, true and beautiful. Under conditions of well-lit interior, the situation is still excellent. However, under low light conditions, it is grainy. As a little zoom, you need to get closer to the subject to get a good close.
Sound Quality:
The sound quality is excellent. It is strong and clear
Software:
Auto installing software installed without problem on my Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit system. Again, it is easy to use and create movies with your videos. You can also capture snapshots of your videos by the software. This is important because now I do not have to switch from video capture to capture still pictures and then back again.
This camcorder is well thought out quality product. . . . .
Finally. . .
I called Amazon for a price adjustment of the camcorder (I paid $ 149. 99 and the price has dropped $ 15. 00, three days after I received the camcorder). I was informed that the price adjustment policy has been canceled. . . Bummer. . . But the type of customer service is back on the issue and purchase the new lower price. Huh?

Amazing Camera & software for price

Love the Flip

I love this. It works in no light. I used it on a ride at Disneyland in no light and it worked great. My friend bought one after I did. Easy to use too. Get this camcorder.
