I was using the Kodak Z712 for the last two years and LOVE it. However, for the holidays, it is a bit bulky and I loved. I did not want to reduce the size of a 12X zoom to a 3X, so I continue to use something else caught my attention. Enter the Z1485. A small camera AWESOME.
I received the camera in mid-December. I used the battery that came with it, a non-rechargeable KLIC-8000 Li-Ion. It lasted about a month, during Christmas (during which I took many photos) and photos of every day (I have a child of 11 months, if I take a lot!). I've just changed the battery a few days ago with a rechargeable battery KLIC-8000 Li-Ion. If you buy this device, make sure you buy good battery for it. Of course, it will aspire regular AA batteries, it is a powerful and low shot.
The clarity is fantastic (keep in mind, I'm just a little picture taker. Day to day pictures of my son, and family trips). All the photos I downloaded from my Kodak prints and are performing admirably. I tend to use the smart-scene, but sometimes (as during the Christmas period) I use other settings, such as the lighting of candles for photos of the Christmas tree. They came to perfect, all nice and soft. The size of the camera itself is perfect. . . I bought an ipod for jogging it so that I can wear around the wrist or arm during the holidays (always good to have on hand the camera) and it fit well.
I've always used Kodak for simple non-head to take the picture, and that this device responds to a tee. I'm so glad I upgraded. I will always love my Z712, but this little guy has everything I need. Please do not be discouraged by the poor reviews here. Most people do not know to put AA batteries in a regular digital camera. It sucks the life out of them in no time. With good batteries, this unit is light, clear, and made an all around GREAT job!

Most bang for your buck.
I was a little weary at first about buying a camera that claims 14.2 megapixels for this price. But let me tell you, this is an amazing little camera that takes phenomenol…

Kodak calls this camera 14 mega pixels, but it is actually 14. 2 + mega pixels. Some unscrupulous manufacturers of Appeal 14. 75 mega pixels because of the CCD, not the actual image area. I bought this camera to replace my Kodak Z1285 12 mega pixel camera, mainly because Kodak eliminated almost all the complaints I had on the Z1285 with the Z1485. These two devices are similar and seems to use the same 5x optical zooms the lens, even if the target has a different name on the two cameras. 5x "zoom" is about as far as you want to go on a device that does not have a true optical zoom and still have an acceptable quality (a true optical zoom maintains the same aperature throughout the zoom range instead of increasing the number aperature objective "zoom" (in general, the maximum [fewer] aperature is the least desirable, the lens is)). I bought wide angle / macro lens and teleconverter mount magnetic Amazon. com for the Z1485, but they do not function well. I am not at all understand why the Kodak Z1485 is selling for less Nikon, Pentax, Canon, Olympus, Sony Camera Division (formerly Minolta) and other devices that appear to be better than it or less than thereof. The Z1485 does need a much better tripod, though. Kodak Z1485IS a great little camera
Finally Kodak have got it right, this is an excellent little camera. 14mb with an easy to use menu system and good quality HD video.

Last year, I was looking for the perfect camera and I can finally say that I'm back and buy cameras. I purchased many digital cameras and gave them to my daughter if I was not able to return or sell them. I love all the features of this high-tech camera and it meets all my needs. I do not need to be an expert on taking photos because the camera does everything for you with the smarts to capture, and it automatically detects the mode of lighting right for you. I also like all the extra features that come with this unit. I will not buy another camera for a long time. The photos are beautiful. The only complaint I have about this device is that it is very bulky, and wish it was one of the models are thin, because I carry my camera everywhere I go and it is always in my bag, but other than that, I am very satisfied.

Great digi cam, but Li Ion batteries are a MUST!
So far, excellent digital camera! Only “cons” discovered were that any power source other than rechargable Lithium Ion batteries are impractical.

Good Value
I’m not a camera expert, but I have owned several digital cameras. I had a C model previous to this one and used it for a few years with no problems.
