My opinion does not reflect the fact that the flash bulb in mine was DOA because it could just as easily happen to any camera. . . It's a bit annoying that their QC department did not catch it. Anyways, Amazon sends me a new one, and letting me use it until the news is here.
The quality is very general. Use ISO100 mode with a faster shutter speed produces an impressive decor outdoor photo quality. For the interior, I found that the use of the automatic valve of the most effective, and even worked well. I took a picture of a bill $ 5 (the installation of the bill in the frame), and was able to read small "United States of America" written in the border around the portrait of Lincoln. In fact, I could even see the ink bleed on each of the small letters. For outdoor shots, 4x zoom does not seem cost-quality photos and can show the details better than I could see with my own eyes, and I have perfect vision.
But there are few things I dislike about the camera. First, the quality of the photos decreases dramatically when you use an ISO setting higher than 100. Do not even bother with the ISO3200, it seems much worse than a cell phone camera. I do not like it is one of the sony cameras the only one who does not have a Carl-Zeiss. I was so used to using a Sony, I was surprised to discover that, not mine. The objective of using the Sony seems to work very well, however, it May not even be significantly different. I do not mean that you must remove the battery charger. You can buy a charger that plugs directly into the camera, but why would not they just give you one in the first place? If I wanted to pay another $ 20 for it, so I just paid an extra $ 20 to a more expensive initially.
Overall I really like this camera, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a very cheap, but decent quality picture. I am using mine 8 GB SanDisk Memory Stock Pro Duo, which contains 1900 full-resolution photos, or 5. 5 hours of video.

Update: Amazon has been out of this camera, so they refunded my money and I have a Sony DSC-W290, that I am much happier as a whole. That is double the price, then I guess you get what you pay. I do not think the S950 is the quality level where one could expect to be happy with the camera for years to come, it's more of an introductory camera you want perhaps the replacement plan a year later. I would change my rating to 3 stars, if I amazon.

I unfortunately agree with other comments. My friends had the mark if I purchased this camera as a preorder. It suffers from the following problems:
1) too much noise in low light (grainy pictures)
2) No zoom video
3) Slow response time. It does not take pictures quickly and recover the property.
4) Improper orientation.
5) In reading, it takes a second for each peak to the initial focus of the granularity.
I would like to return to this issue, but alas, 30 days have passed, and I have the box!

pretty disappointed
For the money, I’m pretty disappointed
. I’m no shutter bug, but it just isn’t a sharp focus. My daughter got much better pictures with her Cannon point & shoot.

I am one of those typical Sony loyalist, but I am very disappointed with this camera. The noise in most photos were terrible especially in low light. Close up pictures in bright sunlight was good, but I could not get a good picture (with Flash). Curiously, I had a problem with the flash too, because its coverage is very less and did not see the item (s) or even in a uniform manner.
It is a great price but poor quality. I am returning this product for another camera.

don’t waste money
It is worst camera that I have ever seen.

Is a dscs980/b sony cyper shot a 12 mp or a 10 mp camera?
